SUNSHINE UPDATES

Preparing for next school year – 2026 class placements and friend choices

It’s that time of year again when our staff begin preparing for the next school year. As part of this process, all students will be asked to nominate three friends they would like to be in a class with next year.

When classes are formed, we take great care to consider a range of factors – academic balance, social dynamics, gender balance and individual learning needs. As part of this, we will ensure that each child will have at least one of their nominated friends in their class.

We encourage families to have a conversation at home about who these three friends might be. This helps your child think carefully about their choices and ensures that their nominations reflect positive and supportive friendships that help them learn and thrive at school.

Thank you for supporting your child through this process and for trusting us to create well-balanced and happy learning environments for all students.

Families will receive a welcome email from their new class teacher on Friday 23 January 2026.

Prep Transition Program

Prep Orientation Morning – Tuesday 18 November, 8:45–10:30am

Our Prep Orientation Morning is an important step in helping children feel confident and ready for their first year of school. The session provides a gentle introduction to school life, allowing children to explore classrooms, meet staff and enjoy early learning activities. Whilst children are busy in the classroom, parents will have an opportunity to order uniforms and organise SRS.

We encourage all 2026 Prep families to attend this important session. Registration: PTP Prep 2025 Orientation morning

Instrumental Music News

Congratulations to Olivier, Harvey and Victoria who represented Sunshine Beach at SHEP in Maryborough on the weekend (10-13 October).

SHEP is the State Honours Ensemble Program and is run by the Queensland Conservatorum of Music. The program gives students a unique opportunity to extend and develop their musical skills in an ensemble setting with their peers from a variety of schools. Students also have the chance to work with highly regarded conductors.

Olivier, Harvey and Victoria were part of the String Ensemble and performed in the final concert at SHEP which showcased the music they learnt during the weekend.

Well done!

Australia’s largest child safety education and awareness day returns this October. Day for Daniel reminds us that keeping children safe is everyone’s responsibility. The day focuses on teaching children how to recognise unsafe situations, respond appropriately, and report abuse or seek help.

Students are encouraged to wear red to show their support. Please ensure clothing is sun safe and school hats are worn.
