Sunshine Spectacular

What a show! Thank you to all of the parents, carers, family members and friends who came along last Thursday to enjoy the 2025 Sunshine Spectacular performance. A very big thank you has to go out to our performers, along with the school staff who were involved. Thank you to Cam Gibson, Cath Gilmore, Luke Coonan, Kellie Moody and Leisa Midgley for working with our students on their performances. It was lovely to see how much joy The Arts brings to Sunshine Beach State School.

Weeyal Official Unveiling

2025_T3_weeyal_3_.JPG

Last week, I had the privilege of attending the opening of our Weeyal (Glossy Black Cockatoo) sculpture, which had been carved from the stump of an unsafe tree that had been removed. Local chainsaw artist, Shane Christensen created the art piece and it is a tribute to our long-time volunteer, Bob Carey who is also affectionately known as “Glossy Bob”. The sculpture is a stunning focal point within our school grounds and serves as a symbol of environmental awareness, community pride and connection to country.

P&C meeting

Our next P&C meeting will be held on Wednesday 27 August at 3.30pm in the office building. P&C members play an important role in the decision-making processes of the school and undertake a range of fundraising ventures throughout the year. All funds raise go directly back into the school to support our students. Many hands make light work and if you are able to spare an hour or so every month, it would be wonderful to see you at our P&C meetings.

Student Led Conferences

These will be held in the last week of term, on Monday and Thursday. Booking links and information from your child’s class teacher will be sent out soon. All families are highly encouraged to attend.

2026 movement

Please advise the school office as soon as possible if you are planning on leaving our school at the end of the school year for any reason (including extended travel). Likewise, if you have a child that is eligible for Prep next year and wish to enrol, please contact the office as soon as possible to ensure the enrolment process begins. This information will assist us to effectively plan for our 2026 staffing model.

Elise Maguire (Principal)

This term, the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) Compliance Team will be visiting our area to help keep school zones safe, with a particular focus on parking. These visits support our ongoing commitment to the safety of students, parents, and staff during drop-off and pick-up times.

By raising awareness, we hope to encourage safe and responsible behaviour around school zones, ensuring the wellbeing of everyone in our community.
