SUNSHINE UPDATES

Year 4 Book Stall – supporting our Chaplaincy Program

Our Year 4 students are running a Book Stall as part of their Maths Modelling unit, putting their learning into action while fundraising for a great cause. The stall will be held at Breakfast Club on Thursday mornings this term.

Books will be priced between $1–$10, with all proceeds going towards supporting Chappy Simone and her wonderful work in our school community. Year 4 have set themselves a fundraising goal of $300.  We’d love your support to help them reach it!

Wanted - old t-shirts, tea towels, and hand towels

2025_T3W6_kia_wanted.jpg

The Kids in Action (KIA) group is collecting old t-shirts, tea towels, and hand towels - no need for them to be perfect! Instead of heading to landfill, we’ll give these textiles a new life by turning them into dog toys and bags and teach students from other schools how to do the same at the KIA conference. This year’s theme is Walking Country – Where Will Our Footprints Lead? So we’re aiming to reduce our textile waste footprint!

If you have any to donate, please pop them in the donations box in the school office as soon as possible and help us make a positive footprint!

Instrumental Music News

We’d like to extend a big congratulations to all our performers in last week’s Sunshine Spectacular concerts. It was a true showcase of the incredible talent found amongst our Sunshine Beach State School students.

Our full school on Wednesday, and then family and friends on Thursday, were treated to a variety of songs, dances and instrumental music performances from those in their first year of learning to those students who’ve been developing their craft for a number of years.

Our Combined String Ensemble started the showcase off brilliantly with some good ol’ fashioned Rock N’ Roll (We Will Rock You) and then performances from the Junior String Ensemble and Senior String Ensemble.

The Foundations Band demonstrated their achievements from their first year of instruction with an exciting piece – Code Name: BAND. The Concert Band followed with a gentle piece – Midnight Sky which demonstrated their growing musical finesse.
We’re looking forward to hearing more from our amazing Instrumental Music students in the future! We’d also like to thank our Instrumental Music families for their help and dedication to getting students to early morning rehearsals, dropping off forgotten instruments and encouraging practise at home.

Lastly, a big congratulations to our students who successfully auditioned to get into next week’s Sunshine Coast Instrumental Music Excellence Program – Alice, Leilani, Bodhi, Korah, Aurora, Gene, Romy, Jack, Victoria, Maddi, Raemi, Baylee, Harvey, Olivier, Oscar and Samuel. Instrumental Music students from across our region auditioned to receive a limited number of spots at these incredible workshops and we were lucky enough to have a number of our Sunshine Beach State School students successful receive offers to attend!

Urgent safety reminder

Please do not use the driveway gate to walk into the school. We’ve noticed an increasing number of parents and unaccompanied students, particularly from Year 1, using this access. The driveway is for vehicles only, and with construction vehicles coming and going, it is extremely unsafe for pedestrians.

Please remind your children - and note for yourself - to use the designated pedestrian gates. Parents are also asked not to drive in and drop off children at the driveway. The safe Kiss and Drop zone is located a little further up Ben Lexcen Drive.

Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe.
