South East Queensland Regional Finals – Year 5 & 6 Girls Soccer Teams

Last week, our Year 5 and Year 6 girls soccer teams travelled to compete in the South East Queensland Regional Finals, showcasing their talent, determination, and team spirit on the field.

The Year 5 team put in an outstanding effort, especially considering they had no substitutes and half the team made up of enthusiastic Year 4 students stepping up to the challenge. Despite their best efforts, the team unfortunately lost both of their games. However, their attitude, resilience and teamwork were exceptional and it's exciting to think about what this group will achieve with another year of experience under their belts. We look forward to watching this young and promising team develop in next year’s competition.

Our Year 6 girls team faced strong opposition throughout the day but rose to the occasion with grit and skill. They started the tournament with a convincing win, followed by a tightly contested draw against St Andrews. In their final match, they came up against a highly skilled Mountain Creek State School team and narrowly lost 1-0. Despite the result, the girls should be incredibly proud of their efforts, especially the way they supported one another and showed true sportsmanship throughout the day.

A special mention must go to the older girls who showed fantastic leadership by mentoring and encouraging the younger Year 5 team—a true reflection of the values we uphold in our school community.

Congratulations to all the girls involved—you represented our school with pride!
