Farewell and Thank You

As I prepare to finish up my time at Sunshine Beach State School, I want to take a moment to express my sincere thanks to the students, staff, and families who have made my short stay here so welcoming and rewarding.

It’s been a privilege to lead such a wonderful school community. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed sharing in the learning, the laughter, and the many day to day moments that make school life so special. One of my highlights was spending time out of the office with our fantastic Year 6 students on camp, a great opportunity to connect, have some fun, and see firsthand the leadership and resilience our young students are developing.

There have been so many fantastic learning and community highlights across the school this year. The Year 2s have been especially engaged with their classroom learning and the Prep students experience caring for the chickens, which provided rich, hands-on learning opportunities. Meanwhile, the Prep area has been buzzing with excitement such an enjoyable and nurturing space for early learners.

Special events like Under 8s Day, and our Athletics Carnivals brought the school community together and were filled with fun, energy, and great spirit. The Year 4 Camp was another great experience, to see students challenging themselves.

Personally, I’ve really valued my time out in the playground and on the oval—passing a footy, having conversations, and getting to know the students. These simple moments have been a real highlight for me and a meaningful part of my connection to the school.

I leave Sunshine Beach SS with fond memories. Thank you all for the warm welcome, the support, and the many conversations both big and small that have shaped my time here.

Elise as the new permanent principal brings a wealth of experience and a strong passion for student success, and I know she will be a wonderful leader for Sunshine Beach State School.

I hope you all have a wonderful break and wishing you all the very best for the future. As we know the Sunshine Coast is a small place, please say G’day if you see my family and I about.

Steve Taylor (Acting Principal)
