PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
From the Acting Principal’s Desk
What a vibrant and busy time it’s been here at Sunshine Beach State School! With our school cross country, District competitions, and a heap of other exciting events, the term is flying by. It’s been wonderful to see our students embracing every opportunity with such enthusiasm and energy. Thank you to our dedicated staff, supportive families, and incredible students for making our school such a dynamic and positive place to learn and grow.
Staffing changes
As the year progresses, there is always movement in staffing. We welcome the following teachers into their new roles: Cam Nichols replacing Rainii Baker in Year 3 for the remainder of the year; Kylie Coxon is also currently replacing Casey Brown in Year 1.
All the best to everyone in their new roles and look forward to working with you all.
On behalf of the entire team here, I would like to wish Rainii Baker all best for the arrival of her new child - very exciting times.
Curriculum, Teaching and Learning
Over the past couple of weeks, I have had the pleasure of visiting various classrooms and witnessing the incredible work our dedicated educators are doing. It is great to see the passion and commitment that our teachers bring to their work every day. Their innovative teaching strategies and dedication to student success are making a positive impact on our students' learning experiences. Our target in English & Maths for this year is for 96% of students to achieve between an A – C, we are tracking very well at the moment and the school has a lot to celebrate. The students are putting in a fantastic effort, I have been very impressed. Keep it up!
Reading
The teaching of reading is one of our focus areas for this year. Teachers and other staff are spending considerable time engaging in professional reading, observing others, attending professional development and implementing research-based strategies in their classrooms. Parents and carers play a vital role in supporting their child/ren’s reading progress and one way is to instil a love of reading in them from an early age.
‘Just 10 minutes reading a day can make a huge difference’.
Please remember to say hello, if you see me about.
Warm regards,
Steve Taylor (Acting Principal)
