SUNSHINE UPDATES
ANZAC Day Ceremony Tewantin
We would like to acknowledge the students, staff and families that were able to attend an overcast ANZAC day ceremony in Tewantin.
It was great to see that we continue to recognise the sacrifices our armed service men and women have and continue to make for our country.
Performing Arts
This term in Performing Arts: Music Exploration!
We are thrilled to kick off the term with our Music units in Performing Arts! Our learners are about to embark on an exciting musical journey. Here is a brief overview at what each year group will be exploring:
Years 1 and 2
Our youngest learners will discover what makes a great singer. They will have fun experimenting with their voices and explore the world of percussion instruments. Along the way, they will dive into key musical elements like tempo, pitch, rhythm, and dynamics. It is all about creativity and hands-on learning as they continue their musical journey.
Years 3 and 4
Learners in Years 3 and 4 will take their musical skills to the next level by building their knowledge of the basics of music notation. With their new knowledge, they will perform simple songs using percussion and tuned percussion instruments, connecting written music with live performance.
Years 5 and 6
Our older students will embark on a global musical adventure! They will explore music from various cultures, uncovering unique sounds and styles. Using a range of percussion instruments, including the marimbas, they will perform and develop an appreciation for the diverse musical traditions around the world.
Sunshine Singers – Choral Fanfare Reminder
We kindly ask that all Sunshine Singers families ensure the online permission form has been completed and the $8 excursion fee has been paid for the upcoming Choral Fanfare event.
As part of their preparation, the choir will be performing at assembly in Week 5 (Tuesday, 20 May) and Week 6 (Tuesday, 27 May). For those who may not be able to attend the Choral Fanfare performance at Coolum Beach State School on Thursday, 30 May at 9:30 AM, we encourage you to come along to one of the assembly performances.
Thank you for your continued support!

Breakfast Club is back – now with a cuppa for parents!
Breakfast Club is kicking off again, offering students a chance to grab a bite to eat and start the day with a full tummy and a friendly chat. Let’s be honest—kids never say no to a second breakfast! It’s a relaxed and cheerful way to ease into the day and enjoy a bit of extra social time.
New this term: parents are warmly invited to stop by for a cuppa while the kids enjoy brekky. No need to stay, but you're very welcome if you'd like to.
Our chaplain is leading the way with support from our leadership students. We're so grateful for the generous food donations and excited to see how Breakfast Club grows over the term.
See you next Thursday!
