We are already almost halfway through Term 2 and the weather is starting to get a bit colder. We reminded the students at Parade the last couple of weeks of the importance of having the right uniform, including jumpers, as well as ensuring they have student’s names clearly marked on them.
Reconciliation Week at Sunshine
Welcome to Reconciliation Week 2025! This year's theme, 'Bridging Now to Next,' highlights the importance of actions that bring us together as Australians. It encourages reflection on our collective journey, acknowledgment of the work still to be done, and meaningful steps to build bridges between diverse communities.
P&C News
We had a really positive meeting last Wednesday night with a fantastic turnout. It was great to see so many keen parents who are proactive community members who are eager to support the school. Having an engaged and supportive P&C is so important, and with this level of enthusiasm, there are certainly positive times ahead for our school community.
I’d also like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Steve Hunter for his outstanding contribution as P&C President over the past five years. His dedication and leadership have made a lasting impact on the school.
Congratulations and a thanks in advance to our new executive:
President – Rebecca Blackford
Vice president – Denise Pilkington, Farah Rizvi-Hammond
Secretary – Kara De Krester, Katie McHale
Treasurer - Sally Imber
Have a great week and Go The Mighty Maroons!

Breakfast Club is back

We’re thrilled to share that Breakfast Club is up and running again — and it’s already a hit with our students!
When: Thursday mornings 8:00am to 8:20am
Where: Tuckshop area
Who: Students from Year 1 to Year 6 can come on their own. Prep students are invited to come with their parent/s.
Students can enjoy a piece of toast, a piece of fruit and a delicious banana smoothie - the perfect way to start the day! Parents are also welcome to enjoy a warm cup of tea or coffee.
A huge thank you to Chappy Simone, our wonderful volunteer Ben and our amazing peer and school leaders who have been working hard to prepare, serve and clean up each week. Your efforts make Breakfast Club a warm and welcoming start to the day.
Please note:
• Each student is welcome to one piece of toast, one piece of fruit and one smoothie — no second helpings to make sure there's enough for everyone.
• Breakfast wraps up promptly at 8:20am so students can get to class on time and our helpers can start their day too.
Come along next Thursday and share in a healthy breakfast with friends!

Guidelines for school communication
The Department of Education Qld has recently shared helpful guidelines to support open, respectful communication between parents, carers and school staff. These recommendations outline what’s reasonable and expected to help foster positive and productive partnerships. You’ll find the full information in the PDF attached.
Second-hand Book Stall – supporting Chaplaincy
We’re launching a second-hand book stall in Term 3 to raise funds for our chaplaincy program, which supports student wellbeing and community connection.
This term, each class will collect second-hand children’s books. If you have any gently loved children’s books at home that are ready for a new reader, please pop them into your classroom’s collection box. Books will be gathered at the end of term to stock the stall, which will become a regular feature next term.
We can’t wait to see the shelves fill up and support a great cause together!

Under 8s morning

Our Under 8s had an action-packed morning, with Prep to Year 2 classes down on the oval enjoying all the activities. From erupting volcanoes and salt painting to shadow drawing, magnets and kite making, there was something to spark the curiousity of the mind, as the theme this year was Unleashing Scientific Thinking Through Play.
Thanks to the fantastic community groups who joined us - Noosa Library, NRL, tennis and AFL who helped make the day even more fun.
Walk Safely to School Day
It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces and energetic steps as students participated in Walk Safely to School Day on Friday 16 May!
Walking to school not only promotes healthy habits, but also helps to reduce traffic congestion around our school in the mornings - a win for everyone!
As part of the fun, students collected a raffle ticket from our Student Council representatives upon arrival. These tickets went into the draw to win a voucher to InterSport, kindly donated by our local council.
Congratulations to our lucky winner, Mao in Year 6! We hope you enjoy your prize.
A big thank you to all the students, families, and staff who supported this event and helped make it a success. Let’s keep walking and stay active every day!
Camel chaos

Who knew camels could be such characters? Our Year 1s spent the day getting up close (sometimes very close) with their new hump-backed friends at at QCamel farm!
